1- What do you understand under feeling lost?
You feel lost when you don’t know what to do with your life during a moment of change. You were in your comfort zone for a long time and this change makes you feel insecure about taking decisions. Somehow you put yourself under pressure to choose the right path.
Most of the times you are not prepared for this transition or, at least, you need time to reflect in order to figure out what you really want. The problem is that the obsession with making the right decision leads you to believe that it is an irreversible action. But that’s is not 100% true as life is about testing and making mistakes. When we are wrong, we simply have to learn from the situation and always take it as a lesson.
Therefore, feeling lost is not bad, it is the beginning of a transition.
2- Please, describe a specific situation when you felt that way?
I felt lost when I finished my degree in architecture which was hard but very fruitful. When I completed it, I was lost and disoriented. I did not really know where to go. I did not know if I would be good enough as an architect. What is more, I did not know if I could face life as a real worker because all I have been doing so far was studying. I wanted to give my best but I had no experience. That horrified me.
3- What helped you to overcome or to deal with those moments?
What helped me overcome that moment was to speak with my family and friends. I realized that I had to take it calmly and that I needed to disconnect from architecture for a while to be able to think about what I really want to do.
4- Which lesson or result did you get out of this challenging time?
I learned to listen to myself and not to close myself up. In this process, I got to accept the situation as it was and to take time to experiment with different alternatives for my future.
So what one has to do is know how to accept it and find a solution, because that moment luckily is not the end of the world.
Time and self-confidence made it possible for me to deal with uncertainty so that each time it became easier to overcome those moments.
There might be more than one aspect of life you are confused about.
You do not only feel lost in just one point of your life. Maybe you are confused about many different aspects of your life.
5- What could be done to help somebody who is feeling lost?
Especially know how to listen and help to realize that in life there are many ways to do things and that one has to find the best for oneself. That one should not feel fearful or guilty of doing that step if it really is what one feels, not thinking what the others will say or what they will think about it. One has to make their decisions and the other people are the ones who have to learn to accept it.
Also making to understand that they are not the only ones who are being lost because many people feel the same or have gone through it.
